The Department Store Award
During the 3rd Global Department Store Summit, the title of ‘Department Store of the Year’ will be awarded to a world class performer and innovator. This Award is intended to recognize a truly outstanding performance that has been acknowledged by industry peers. CEOs and senior executives of department stores and their suppliers will be invited to propose the department store that they consider to be the world’s leading one, based on the following criteria:
- An enviable profile (clear store brand, differentiated positioning, powerful messaging and communications)
- Successful developments and executions of product, store and service innovation strategies (innovative extension of merchandise in its categories, development of the store formula and service offer)
- Delivery of an outstanding in-store experience
- Provision of excellent customer service
- Strong financial performance (based on SSS and EBIT growth in 2010 and 2011, a positive trend in results over the previous two years and the outlook for 2012)
Following the votes of retail executives, the names of the five most nominated department stores will be submitted to the Department Store Jury, which is composed of highly recognized individuals from the Retail Industry. The Department Store Jury will then ask these five nominated department stores to provide additional performance insights in accordance to the five selection criteria to the jury, which will review the information. By the end of April, the jury will communicate the name of the three finalists and then elect the winner of the 'Department Store of the Year 2012'.

. Mr Bjarne Mumm - Founder & CEO of Jefri Investor, Sweden
. Mr Peter Williams - Senior Independent Director of ASOS, UK
The Winner of the Department Store Award will be officially revealed during the Award Ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at the Official Dinner of the 3rd Global Department Store Summit, organized on Thursday 10 May 2012 (by invitation only).
The sending out and collection of information to voters will be organized by Kuechler Treuhand, Switzerland, who will conduct the pool in fiduciary duty and submit the results to the Jury.
